Education

BA Music Education (Broad Area) - CWU; Masters in Music (Conducting Emphasis) - CWU

Experience

20 years as band director (Everett High School, Interlake High School (Bellevue), South Kitsap High School and is now in his 11th year at Eastmont Jr. High School); taught the Summer Jazz Program at Bellevue Community College; was on adjunct faculty at Olympic College as trumpet instructor; taught Jazz Band II, Jazz Choir II, and Trumpet at CWU as part of my graduate assistantship under Larry Gookin, John Moawad and Tom Gause;  7 years on staff at Camp Burton Music Camp with Neil and Barbara Porter; professional/freelance trumpeter in the Seattle Area in jazz, classical, reggae and funk bands including featured soloist with "AndyO and the Calypso Symphony" and "Tiny Giants";  leader of the Erin Smith Quintet.  4 years as Principal Trumpet with CWU's Wind Ensemble; 5 years with CWU's Jazz Band I including lead trumpet; experienced classical musician in all settings including symphonic and chamber music (experienced performer in many popular styles as well); private trumpet and jazz instructor for 25+  years.

Projects

In addition to his duties at Eastmont Jr. High and private music instruction, he serves as the Musical and Educational Director of the Wenatchee Jazz Workshop.  He also runs the local music website WenatcheeMusic.com and performs with several local groups including the Erin Smith Jazztet, the jazz/fusion band "Triage", Glenn Isaacson and Friends and as featured soloist with jazz singer Nancy Zahn.
